Middle School Day 2019

October 10, 2019

This outreach event is free of charge and open to any middle school class of 20-25 students, preferably science, math, or engineering classes. A teacher must complete the application available below. Teachers and/or chaperones must stay with the class while they are on campus. Space is limited, so please complete an application as soon as possible. Middle School Day will be Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Topics this year will range from biomedical engineering to electrical engineering to computer science. Teachers will have the opportunity to pick topic preferences after their application has been received. Registration:

Lead Academy

Our LEAD program is a FREE one day experience held at our college designed to work in conjunction with the SC educational standards to provide students with hands-on experiences in a particular area of engineering and computing. Your students will be engaged in hands-on project based learning all day! This one day experience will be from 9am-3pm. We have travel scholarships that can be submitted for funds for a bus driver, bus rental, mileage, and substitute teacher. Lunch will be provided for all students. eWeek: Daughter Date Night

The College of Engineering and Computing is excited to host it's annual Daughter Date Night!  Middle school age girls are invited to apply for this FREE event, along with one adult as their "date".  There will be time for our guest to collaborate, design and test a hands-on engineering activity.  Guest will be served dinner while they have the opportunity to chat with current women in the College of Engineering and Computing at UofSC! VEX IQ and V5 Robotics Workshop

Oct. 10-11, 2019

VEX IQ Workshop (1 Day) Interested in bringing robotics to your elementary or middle school for the first time? Spend a day at USC learning about VEX IQ robots and the annual VEX IQ Challenge. We will introduce basic building concepts, beginner programming skills, and the use of sensors in conditional programming scenarios. We will also cover what you really need to know to go back to your school ready to start a competition team with a group of lucky students! Each pair of teaching partners will receive (1) VEX IQ Super Kit plus 2 smart motors for the their club or classroom. Register   VEX V5 BootCamp (1 Day) Are you ready to learn more about the new VEX V5 System? Join us for a full day of working with the new V5 system and VEX Coding Studio. We will cover all of the basics you need to know to feel comfortable bringing this new technology back to your students: V5 features, basic programming skills and scenarios, conditional programming with sensors, driver control with the remote, and basic building concepts.
